Nutrition and exercise can impact fertility and fetal development. We connected with Dr. Laura Nezworski an OB/GYN at Hennepin County Medical Center to learn more about pre-pregnancy nutrition. Here are a few of Dr. Nezworski's tips:
- Start taking a prenatal vitamin about a month before you start trying to conceive. Prenatal vitamins are expensive, but if you are on Medicaid they are covered.
- Look for prenatal vitamins with DHA. This is a fatty acid that helps with fetal brain development.
- Eat monounsaturated fats and opt for full fat dairy over low fat dairy.
